This is the main screen for simply playing along with VM. The large number displays what beat you are currently on. You can also tap out a tempo on this display and have VM figure out the bpm for you. Finally, you can swipes to the left and the right on the beat display will move through your list of presets. After each swipe the name of the preset you've switched to will be briefly displayed.
In addition to changing the tempo and volume by pressing the plus and minus buttons, you can also change them by pressing the numbers and then moving your fingers up and down vertically. For the bpm readout, you can also double tap it to bring up a keyboard; using the keyboard you enter more precise tempos
In this tab we define the number of beats per measure and where we want to place accents in the measure. You can have as many beats as you like and place accents or silence arbitrarily by pressing the box corresponding to the beat you would like to change. The first time you press the beat it will change to be accented, the second time it will change to be silent. On the third press it will revert to the main sound. The box should be white with black text when there is an accent on that beat.
You can also add 8th note and triplet subdvisions in this screen. Note: If you are using triplet or eighth note subdivision at fast tempos (above 300) I highly recommend using the click synthesizers with a really short decay time for your sounds. The acoustic sounds will get muddy and distorted at faster tempos because the hits will overlap so much.
In this tab you specify the sounds for both the main sound and the accent sound. Scroll down to see a list of all the sounds to choose from. If you select Click Synth 1 or Click Synth 2 for your sounds, you can then customize the pitch and the decay of your clicks. Shorter clicks work especially well at very fast tempos as the breaks between beats are still very clear.
This list is where you can save the settings you create. To save a preset, just hit the plus button at the top of the screen. A screen will pop up with a blank text field and a keyboard; just type in the name you want and hit the Create button to save your preset. You can also overwrite the preset you are currently using by checking the Overwrite box instead of typing in a name.
Just click on a preset in the list to select it; you can also switch between presets on the Main screen by swiping the large beat display. To delete a preset, just swipe across it horizontally in the list and then hit the Delete button that pops up. Or hit edit, press the red circle that appears next to the name of the preset you want to delete, and then hit the Delete button that pops up. Hit the Edit button again when you are finished deleting presets.
The pitch screen gives you a four octave pitch pipe. Just hit the plus and minus buttons to change the pitch, and the hit the play button to override the metronome and play a reference tone.
